I am currently an NSF Corporate Research Postdoctoral Fellow at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in Palo Alto, California.

Previously, I received the Ph.D. degree, advised by Professor Bernd Girod, from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. I was affiliated with the Information Systems Laboratory and the Max Planck Center for Visual Computing and Communication. I also hold a B.A.Sc. in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford.

My research interests are in the areas of image/video processing with a focus on the application of distributed source coding and machine learning algorithms. I received the EURASIP Signal Processing Journal's 2009 Most Cited Paper Award and I have won Best Student Paper Award on two occasions: 2006 IEEE Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing (MMSP) and 2007 European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO).
